GreenSky® Financing – Frequently Asked Questions
What’s the advantage of financing my project with GreenSky?
GreenSky financing helps you start your electrical project now while conserving cash and home equity. Plans often include fixed-rate installment loans and promotional options like “No Interest if Paid in Full,” so you don’t have to pay everything upfront. Financing is provided by federally insured banks that participate in the GreenSky® program.
What type of credit is GreenSky financing?
GreenSky offers unsecured, fixed-rate installment loans. Unlike a revolving credit card, your non-promotional monthly payment remains the same for predictability.
Once I’m approved, how do I use the funds?
You’ll receive a loan agreement plus a 16-digit account number and expiration date. Give these to your contractor (just like a credit card) to pay for your project.
How do I pay for Shafnisky Electric’s services with GreenSky?
After approval, simply provide your GreenSky 16-digit account number and expiration date. We’ll process your payment as if it were a credit card transaction.
Are there promotional plans like “No Interest if Paid in Full”?
Yes. Many GreenSky plans offer deferred interest. If you pay the promotional balance in full within the promotional period, all interest is waived. If not, interest that accrued during the period will be applied.
Is there a prepayment penalty?
No—there is no penalty for paying your loan off early.
How long do I have to use my loan after approval?
Most plans give you 4–6 months to use your approved credit line for authorized project purchases.
How do I make monthly payments?
You can pay online via the GreenSky Customer Portal, set up autopay, pay by phone, or mail a check (include your 16-digit account number).
Will checking my financing options hurt my credit?
Pre-qualification uses a soft credit inquiry and won’t affect your credit score. Accepting an offer and submitting a full application triggers a hard inquiry, which may affect your score.
Who is the lender?
GreenSky Servicing, LLC manages the program, but loans are originated by participating banks and financial institutions.
What information is needed to apply?
Basic personal information (name, address, Social Security number, income) is required. A government-issued photo ID is also needed for verification.
Which projects can I finance?
GreenSky is designed for home improvement, making it a great fit for electrical panel upgrades, whole-home rewiring, EV charger installations, standby generators, and more—subject to credit approval.
